Easy Peasy DIY: Wedding Vase Stakes in the Ground
We had a large area of land to decorate for our wedding as it was at a campgrounds. One of the ways we found to decorate it cheaply was with stakes and jars - we used them both to decorate with flowers and to add evening lighting with candles. All you need to do is to find wood stakes in the height you want. Then, glue the side of a jar to the top portion of the stake and wrap with twine. It is super cheap if you simply keep old spaghetti sauce jars, canning jars, etc to use on the stakes. If you are filling with candles, placing some rice or sand in the bottom will help keep the tealights or votives in the center of the jar. This would also make a fun way to decorate your front walk at your next party!

Easy Peasy DIY: Wedding blankets for a chilly night
As my wedding was in early June in Minnesota, the weather was a bit up in the air during the planning stages - it could range from chilly to quite hot. Our rehearsal dinner was at a campgrounds during the evening, so I wanted to make sure no one was too cold. I picked up a crate at a garage sale, and attached a simple piece of slate from Michaels to it with glue. I filled it with rolled up blankets and wrote a little note to let guests know to help themselves if they needed one. After the wedding, I used the crate on my back porch to hold recycling and changed the chalk board to match.

Wedding Candy Bar or Favor Bar
For our wedding, we wanted to do a candy bar with a retro theme - choosing vintage candies as well as small retro gumball toys for guests to take home. We used a variety of vintage boxes, crates, a ladder and many candy jars for the entire display, all of which we picked up at thrift stores, estate sales and vintage shops. We purchased inexpensive paper bags and designed a logo with our initials, and were able to print the logo directly onto the bags. We also included washi tape that matched so guests could seal up their bags, and some small floral arrangements for accents.

Cocktail hour snacks for our wedding
As we were married at a camp, we went for a more casual "cocktail hour" for the time between the ceremony and dinner. We had Arnold Palmers (both alcoholic and non) for drinks, along with beer and lemonade. We also had peanuts in the shell, Cracker Jacks and snap peas for munching.
I made the little "snacktime" banner from scrapbook paper, bakers twine and markers, and attached it to a vintage basket. The adorable peanut bags we purchased from HeyYoYo
Snap peas are one of my favorite snacks, and luckily they were readily available at the local farmers market. Originally we wanted cherries, which would have looked so cute in the little bags, but would have been pricier and not local. We found tiny glassine bags and trimmed the opening with edging scissors for holding the peas.
We loved the idea of people being able to toss their shells on the floor, and instructed them to do so. It was easy clean up, and contributed to the casual feel of the wedding. I loved incorporating our favorite snacks into our wedding in an inexpensive and fun way.

DIY coffee table ideas
I have been wanting to replace our current coffee table for a while now.... we have a dated, 1990's style table that I don't like the style of, but which is arguably very practical. It is quite sturdy (which is nice, as we put our feet up a lot!), and has a lower shelf for storage. I couldn't justify buying a new one, but would love to make one, preferably with reclaimed materials. Here are a few fun ideas for a new coffee table to make....
I love the practicality and simplicity of this table from Shanty2Chic. But, while I love the look of the casters, I would have to use locking casters, or replace the casters with feet - otherwise it would roll too much for me.
This table has great storage, and I definitely have enough old fruit crates to make it!
I like the industrial look of this table from HomeTalk.
The look of this table is probably my favorite - love the added numbers and vintage look.

Etsy Love/My New Purse
My grandmother had wanted to get me a nice purse for a while - I tend to cheap out on bags, only buying used or clearance items. I had had my eye on this purse on Etsy for a while - I love the contrast of the leather and the canvas, the little tassels and interior pockets. My favorite part is that the strap is removable - it can be both a messenger or over the shoulder bag, as well as a simple handbag. I received the bag as a gift, and couldn't be happier with it :) The bag is from Milloo , an etsy seller in Greece. The shop is full of gorgeous accessories.....
